Golden Oyster mushrooms produce stunning, luminescent fungi that can truly enhance a farmer's market showcase. Thriving in warmer climates, they are abundant during the summer months. Their light and airy clusters feature bright yellow caps atop long ivory stems. Initially, the caps exhibit a rich golden hue before transitioning to a vivid yellow as they mature. This delectable variety offers a nutty flavor profile reminiscent of cashews, providing an exceptional touch to various dishes. Their robust and versatile growth characteristics make them ideal for both novices and commercial growers.

Colonization Speed:Among our plug spawn options, oyster mushrooms stand out for their rapid colonization process, which spans approximately 6–12 months.

Ideal Growth Conditions: Fruiting temperatures ranging from 65–80°F (18–27°C). Ideal wood species include Aspen, Cottonwood, Tulip Tree, and Willow. Identification (Golden Oyster):At first glance, young Golden Oyster mushrooms—often referred to as "pins"—may resemble Lion's Mane mushrooms. They start off completely white with an irregular shape. As they grow, their caps begin to show a unique yellow color while developing into the characteristic cap and stem structure. If you're uncertain about the species identification, it's advisable to wait another day or two to see if the unmistakable yellow caps emerge.

Additional Information:Plug spawn is ideally suited for smaller-scale projects involving 1–10 logs; however, some log growers may utilize them for larger endeavors as well. The wooden dowels used in our plug spawn are kiln-dried and untreated otherwise.
