Golden Oysters produce luminous mushrooms that seem to radiate light—ideal for enhancing a farmer's market presentation. Thriving in warmer conditions, they are prolific during the summer season. Their airy and fragile clusters showcase bright yellow caps atop long, creamy stems. The caps begin as a rich golden hue and transform into a vibrant yellow as they mature. This savory variety features a nutty flavor reminiscent of cashews, providing an exceptional twist to various dishes. Their robust and versatile growth makes them suitable for both novice growers and commercial cultivators.

Colonization Speed:Among the plug spawn varieties we provide, oyster mushrooms are the quickest to colonize, typically requiring 6–12 months.

Ideal Growing Environment:Fruiting temperatures ranging from 65–80°F (18–27°C). Ideal wood species include Aspen, Cottonwood, Tulip Tree, and Willow. Identification (Golden Oyster):At their initial stage, young Golden Oyster mushrooms (referred to as "pins") may resemble Lion's Mane mushrooms. They start off completely white with a blob-like appearance. As they develop, their caps will adopt a recognizable yellow shade along with the characteristic shape of cap and stem. If you're uncertain about your identification, wait a couple of days to confirm if the distinctive yellow caps emerge.

Additional Information:Plug spawn is most effective for smaller endeavors involving 1–10 logs; however, some log growers utilize them for larger projects as well. The wooden dowels used in our plug spawn are dried in kilns and remain untreated otherwise.
