Millennium thrives in a range of soil conditions, including heavier soils, allowing growers to make use of land that was previously deemed unsuitable for asparagus farming. It offers greater yields than Jersey Supreme over an extended harvesting period, boasts stronger fern growth and better survival rates, while maintaining consistent spear size and spring emergence. Additionally, it has a higher percentage of male plants; since male plants are more effective at producing spears while female plants generate seeds that can lead to overcrowding, smaller spears, weed challenges, and increased vulnerability to pests like asparagus beetles and various diseases. This is a perennial crop and is also available in conventional crown forms.
