The spears are not only tender but also sweet, gaining a subtle mustardy taste as they grow older. While transplanting is advised, this variety shows superior results when directly seeded and planted closer together compared to our other mini broccoli types (4–6" spacing in the row). It can mature 1–2 weeks earlier than Happy Rich; however, it has lower heat resistance and a more limited harvesting window. This Chinese delicacy, referred to as Kailaan or Chinese kale, can be marketed either loose or in bunches.
